- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour (plus more for the surface)
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- ⅓ cup warm milk
- ⅓ cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (plus more for the bowl and cooking)
Instructions
- Combine the flour, yeast, and salt in a large bowl.
- Pour in the warm milk and water, mixing until everything comes together.
- Add the olive oil and knead the dough in the bowl until it forms a ball.
- Drizzle some olive oil into a clean bowl, rub it over the interior, place the dough inside, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rest for an hour.
- Dust your surface with flour, gently remove the dough from the bowl, and cut it into 8 equal-sized pieces.
- Stretch each piece into a circle and roll it out to about a ¼ inch thick.
- Heat a cast iron pan over high heat and drizzle in 1 teaspoon of olive oil.
- Place one rolled pita into the pan and cook for about a minute, then flip and cook the other side until golden.
- Repeat with the remaining pitas and drizzle with melted garlic and herb butter if desired.
