- 2 cups diced apples
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Oil for frying
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently mix until just combined.
- Fold in the diced apples, making sure they’re well distributed throughout the batter.
- In a deep fryer or large pot, heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Using a spoon, carefully drop dollops of batter into the hot oil.
- Fry until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Once fried, remove the fritters and drain them on a paper towel.
- Meanwhile, prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of milk, and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth.
- Drizzle the glaze generously over the warm fritters before serving.
Notes
Try adding dried cranberries for a zesty kick or pumpkin spice for a seasonal twist.
