Description

A spicy-sweet treat of jalapeño rounds, perfect for adding a kick to any dish or as a delightful gift.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh jalapeño peppers
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Slice the jalapeños, wearing gloves to protect your skin, into rounds.
  2. Combine the granulated sugar, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and salt in a medium saucepan.
  3. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring frequently until the sugar dissolves.
  4. Add the sliced jalapeños to the saucepan and simmer for another 5-10 minutes.
  5. Jar the hot mixture into sterilized jars, sealing them while hot.
  6. Cool the jars completely at room temperature before refrigerating.

Notes

Cowboy Candy gets better with time; prepare it a few days in advance. Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 months.
