Description

A warm, creamy dish of homemade scalloped potatoes perfect for family gatherings and a cozy night in.


Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or Gruyère)
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for greasing the dish)
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter, making sure to cover the bottom and sides well.
  2. Layer half of the sliced potatoes evenly across the bottom of the dish. Generously sprinkle with salt, pepper, and half of the onions and garlic. Top with half of the shredded cheese for that irresistible melt.
  3. Add another layer of potatoes over the first, followed by the remaining onions, garlic, salt, pepper, and the rest of the cheese.
  4. Pour the heavy cream evenly over the layered potatoes, ensuring every bite gets that creamy goodness.
  5. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
  6. After 45 minutes, carefully remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly, creating a beautifully crisp crust.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before serving. If you’re feeling fancy, garnish with fresh parsley for a pop of color!
