Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons loose black tea or 2 black tea bags
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 vanilla bean or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons sugar or honey (to taste)
  • A pinch of salt
  • Optional: spices like cinnamon or cardamom

Instructions

  1. Boil the water: In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a gentle boil.
  2. Add the tea: Once boiling, add the loose black tea or tea bags to steep. Let it steep for about 5 minutes.
  3. Prepare the vanilla: Slice open the vanilla bean and scrape out the seeds.
  4. Mix in milk: After steeping, lower the heat and add 1 cup of milk along with the vanilla seeds or extract.
  5. Sweeten and spice: Stir in sugar or honey and a pinch of salt, adjusting to taste. Add cinnamon or cardamom if desired.
  6. Strain and serve: Strain the liquid into cups if using loose tea, and enjoy warm.
